GPS collars were deployed in March of 2011 and data is now being collected! Check out this clip from the CBC’s Rick Mercer Report on our captures:

Together with Dr. Tom Knight of Parks Canada (and Dr. Jim Rettie, previously of Parks Canada), our lab embarked on a major project on the effects of high densities of moose on their demography and habitat selection in Gros Morne National Park,

Newfoundland. Moose are an invasive species in this part of the world, and their effects on the unique forest structure of Gros Morne have been marked. This project is being led by my M.Sc. student, Tom Perry (left). Also collaborating is Dr. Eric Vander Wal, Memorial University of Newfoundland.
